The Vietnam War Years of

Korat Royal Thai Air Base

Welcome!

This web site is an ongoing attempt to place elements of times past and present into perspective.  Initially, my purpose was to display my own photos and memories for other Korat Veterans to see and rekindle memories, both good and bad. l had 2 consecutive tours of duty at Korat, from October 1970 to October 1972. I worked as a weapons release mechanic (46250) in the 388th Munitions Maintenance Squadron. We worked on F-105s, F-4D and F-4E Phantoms, A-4Ds, etc. A major part of this site is devoted to that time and a place that forever changed my life, and the lives of many other men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base is the driving force for this web site development, and will always be a work-in-progress. As I receive communications from others who have a similar interest, I will update. If you have stories or items to share about Korat RTAFB, please contact me via email. A series of links related to the main subject is included, and you are invited to check them out for similar sites. Your suggestions, photos, stories, and comments are encouraged!

This site has grown significantly since I put it online in June of 1998.  It rapidly filled up my alloted 10 megabyte web space on my ISP, so I looked for and found another site (free) that I could display more photos that I started receiving from YOU! When that space was exhausted, I found that I had to purchase space on another provider to allow for more space and bandwidth usage.  Even now, this total site contains more that 800 megabytes of photos, video and documents, and is still growing! Although the rate of photo submissions has dropped dramatically, I find that when some new people find this site, they get very eager to cull through their old photos and share them with all of us.  To all of you who have shared your photos and memories, you have touched many peoples lives.  I know this by the many email messages that I have received over the years from Korat vets, or family members of Korat vets, who have used the site to remember, or share their memories with their loved ones.  This has meant very much to me.  I strive to keep it fresh, but that is sometimes difficult due to the lack of subject matter to display.  If you are reading this and have a personal memory of Korat, I am always open to receive it.  Please contact me via the email link and I will do my best to help.
